I was recently introduced to a band called “The Cast Of Cheers” Pretty much anyone that’s heard these guys have fallen in love with them and have taken advantage of their free album! Sam Malone – Ted Danson
Ted Danson will always be best know for this character. He served 11 seasons behind the bar at Cheers and made us all laugh and cringe in every single episode. After Cheers, Danson went right back to the movie business and has a massive string of movies under his belt, most of which are too crap to mention, a few i will mention are 3 Men And A Baby… hmmm ok, that’s about it. He also committed himself to a few more TV series, Ink, Becker and what must be his most credible, Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Diane Chambers – Shelley Long
Shelley Long went on to make many TV appearances including Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Joan Of Arcadia, Superman, Fraiser (as Diane Chambers) and in one episode of the brilliantly sharp and witty, Boston Legal. She did appear in some films, but they’re shit.
Rebecca Howe – Kirstie Alley
Kirstie did a string of crap films after Cheers, but seemed to find something that suited her with her own sit-com, Veronica’s Closet, which see’s her as the owner of a lingerie company. After 64 episodes she moved back to making some films, again, none worth mentioning.
Carla Tortelli – Rhea Perlman
Rhea appeared in The Simpsons and Mad About You and had a stack of small parts in crappy films that i’ve never heard of. She will always be Carla in my mind.
‘Woody’ Boyd – Woody Harrelson
Maybe the biggest success story out of the Cheers cast. Woody became a household name during Cheers and the public didn’t want to let go and Hollywood knew that. He got picked to play for some roles that really turned around what we thought about Woody Harrelson. One of his biggest movies, Natural Born Killers seen Harrelson as a rampaging serial killer. Natural Born Killers would probably be on many lists as essential viewing. Woody’s career continued to grow and get massive critical acclaim. Watch out for his latest film Zombieland 2.
Norm Peterson – George Wendt
NORMMMMMM has appeared on a bunch of TV but most interesting to me is, The Simpsons, Spin City, Family Guy, Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Saturday Night Live. Someone clearly has a friend on the teenage witch production team.
Cliff Clavin – John Ratzenberge
Ratzenberge has mostly been cast for his voice. Most famously it would be known as the voice of Hamm The Piggy Bank in Toy Story 1,2 & 3. It also features in Up, Monsters Inc, Cars, Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Bug’s Life & Wall-E. Thats a serious amount of voice work! All the good ones too.
Frasier Crane – Kelsey Grammer
Kelsey has kept himself a very busy boy. We’d know him mostly for his Cheers spin-off show Fraiser, but he has had his fingers in many pies. Kelsey does a lot of work his behind the camera in the form of directing. He directed many episodes of Friaser, one epsiode of Everybody Hates Chris and a few episodes of Hank. He is Also executive producer of 17 different TV shows yeoooooozersss!
Ernie ‘Couch’ Pantusso – Nicholas Colasanto
Nicholas Colasanto died on Feb 12th 1985. Nicholas appeared in 70 episodes of Cheers. He had also appeared in the massive movie, Raging Bull.
Lilith Sternin – Bebe Neuwirth
I always fancied bebe sooooo much! After Cheers she went on to do a lot of TV including Fraiser, Newsradio, SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH, Law & Order and her voice appeared in Duckman, which is the best animation ever.
