Scots boys Tango in the Attic have had a brilliant year after the success of their debut album Bank Place Locomotive Society. Sketch by Quentin Blake is the second single to be taken from the album and a lovely upbeat end to the year.
“Sketch by Quentin Blake “starts with an upbeat skip to its’ step. Tango’s sound is very reminiscent of a blistering summer’s day, top down, scenery whizzing past and wind in your hair. Guitars, bass, drums and vocals all entwine to become a playful cacophony of sound.
B-side “King’s Arms” is a complete change of pace and shows that there’s a deeper side to Tango’s musical fun n frolics. The song is slow, meandering and thoughtful. Is this a sign of things to come? Perhaps, a path with a shade more depth will be the aspect Tango need to break through past the waves of similar cheeky indie bands out there.
Having said this and judging by the breaks the boys are making on the radio airwaves (Absolute Radio, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 1 Scotland), there’s much promise for these lads as 2011 creeps ever closer. We can’t wait to hear what they’ll do next!
