Battle of the bands 2012 are currently seeking bands to take part in The Pavilion’s summer BOTB Tournament.
16 Bands will battle it out for a cash prize over four heats, two semi finals & a grand final on the 1st August.
The judges for all seven nights will be -
- Phily Taggart (BBC Radio 1 Introducing N.I.)
- Richard Crothers (Panicdots.com)
- Philip McCarroll (SONI Live)
There will also be an element of audience participation (the 4th judge) in the form of an audience vote.
The judges will rank each of the 4 bands on the night in order of 1-4.
1 = 4 points
2 = 3 points
3 = 2 points
4 = 1 point
The total amount of points scored will determine who goes through to the next round. The two bands with the highest scores in each heat will go through to a semi final. The same scoring system will be used for the semi finals & the grand final (with the highest scoring band winning the final).
The format of the competition will be as follows. We will have 16 bands compete in 4 heats (drawn at random) on the following dates (all Wednesdays) – 13 June, 20 June, 27 June & 4 July. There will be two semi-finals on the 18th & 25th July, with the grand final taking place on the 1st August.
Admission to each of the 7 gigs will be £3. Every penny made on the door will go into a prize pot, the total of which will be announced at the end of each gig. At the end of the competition, the winners of the grand final will win the entire prize pot. The capacity of the Pavilion’s Boutique Bar is 170 so the potential is there to raise £510 for the prize pot per night with a grand total of £3570.
The Pavilion will supply the PA, sound engineer & judges for each night & promote the gig within our venues using posters & on-screen advertising and through our website, Facebook & Twitter accounts. We will also contact local press. Bands are encouraged to partake in any promotional activity they can (excluding fly-postering).
