Exploding Chewing Gum Blows Off Student’s Jaw

A chemistry student has been found dead with his jaw blown off by what is believed to be exploding chewing gum, reports have said.

The 25-year-old’s disfigured remains were discovered at his parent’s home in the northern Ukrainian city of Konotop, reports in the Eastern European country said.
The young man, who studied at Kiev Polytechnic Institute, was working at a computer late on Saturday when the alleged explosion happened.
“A loud pop was heard from the student’s room,” the ukranews.com website said, citing an aide to the city’s police chief.
“When his relatives entered the room, they saw that the lower part of the young man’s face had been blown off.”
A forensic examination established that the chewing gum was covered with an unidentified chemical substance, thought to be some type of explosive material.
The student apparently had a bizarre habit of chewing gum after dipping it into citric acid, Russian news agency Ria Novosti said.
Officers found both citric acid packets and a similar-looking unidentified substance, believed to be some kind of explosive material, on a table near the body, the agency continued.
Investigators suspect that the student simply confused the packets and put gum covered with explosive material into his mouth.
Forensic experts were to travel from Kiev to investigate the substance, as local authorities feared it may explode if transported.

We’d just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us the past 6 months. We’ve had an eventful year, from playing our first gig in May, playing a BBC Radio Ulster showcase in July, to supporting Jack Penate, and most recently Little Boots in Dublin and Belfast.

We’ve had great support and reviews for our promo EP songs, ‘Cut me out’, ‘Magnetic’ and ‘What you see’. We’re currently taking a short break away from live gigging over Xmas, to write and record material for our new EP out next year.

Dublin continues to breed more new original music. Sleep Thieves are the latest trio of Moog loving, electro hippies to come crawling from it’s womb. I’m not really one for reviews, i’m more into recommending, so that is what i will do! If… YACHT, Air, Not Squares and Nakatomi Towers all jumped into a blender and got blended, this is the juice that it would create. You just gotta check these guys out.

Buy their brand spanky new EP off Amazon, check out their Facebook and MySpace and do anything else that you feel is appropriate.

EP It Was Only A Satellite for £3.16 on Amazon….
Pure bargain for some really great music, but if you’re a bit of a tramp, which i know you are, you will notice you can buy the tracks separate and i’m about to give you one for free!
